Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland unveiled changes on Thursday aimed at making it easier for first-time buyers to break into the housing market.
During a keynote address on affordable housing in Ottawa on Wednesday, Housing Minister Sean Fraser revealed the federal government will release a policy that will aim to achieve three specific goals to combat Canada ’s housing crisis: building homes, making them more affordable, and providing support for those who cannot afford a home.
Ottawa is also allowing amortizations on some mortgages to stretch up to 30 years in a bid to make monthly payments more affordable for first-time buyers.
