Officials at CHEO are now pleading for people to wear masks indoors to curb the rapid spread of a triple threat of respiratory viruses: RSV, COVID-19 and influenza. RSV — respiratory syncytial virus — is a common virus that causes respiratory infections in adults and children, but often affects kids more severely.

“If we see a significant impact on the health system, we will be making more and more recommendations about wearing masks to cut down the risk of all these viruses that are transmitted through close personal contact as we go indoors and we’re monitoring that data very closely,” Moore said in an interview with CP24 on Oct. 19.

“The university will continue to adjust as required to ensure everyone’s health and safety and to comply with public health advice, recommendations and legal requirements,” a Carleton University statement said.Article content Trustee Justine Bell said she believed the school board had to do its part to help curb the spread of viruses creating a crisis at CHEO.Article content
