Updated: More than 700 homes have been ordered evacuated and another 2,000 are on an evacuation alert after a wildfire crossed the U.S.-Canada border on Saturday and approached Osoyoos.

Authorities say impacted residents should leave the area immediately. The order said that members of the RCMP and other agencies will be expediting the evacuation.The evacuation alert, issued at 11:30 p.m., covers 2,094 properties in Electoral Areas A and B and C, as well as the town of Osoyoos.
