Meanwhile, Renee Zellweger , Joaquin Phoenix , Laura Dern and Brad Pitt continued their awards season dominance with their acting wins. Mendes’ war drama “1917,” which was expected to rule the night following its 10 nods and stellar awards season, only took home three prizes in technical categories.
