This New York classic car collection could net $30 million at auction.
A collection of 131 classic cars, including some pristine racing and sports cars, spanning Ford to Bugatti to Mercedes, is going on the block at
in New York on October 14. While there’s no reserve for most of the collection, the total spent could reach up to around $30 million.Arguably the star of the show is a 1955 Jaguar D-Type, which is equipped with its original 3.4-liter inline-six engine. The car was originally delivered to British racing driver Colonel Ronnie Hoare, and has the documentation to certify its authenticity from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
The D-Type, painted in Special Blue, is estimated to auction for around $10 million. At an RM Sotheby’s auction in August, a Le Mans-winning D-Type sold for more than $21 million.A 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster is also on the block, expected to bring in $1.2 to $1.4 million. Many of the car’s parts are original, like the short-wave radio, steering wheel, seatbelts, canvas soft top, and factory hardtop. The original fitted luggage is also included.
Other highlights include a 2020 Ford GT ‘69 Heritage Edition, a 1954 Cunningham C3 Vignale Coupe, a 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Stelvio, and a not-often-seen 1937 Horsch 853 Cabriolet.
