Oregon QB Dante Moore Suffers Concussion After Hit by USC's Desman Stephens II

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore sustained a concussion in the win over USC after a hit by Desman Stephens II. His MRI and CT scans were clean, and he will be sidelined as a precaution.

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore suffered a concussion during Saturday night's game against USC after being hit by USC linebacker Desman Stephens II while sliding. The impact caused the back of Moore's head to bounce off the turf. He was carted off the field on a backboard, transported to a waiting ambulance, and taken to Los Angeles General Medical Center.

Oregon Provides Update on Dante Moore

Oregon coach Dan Lanning released a statement on Sunday confirming that Moore sustained a concussion but that his MRI and CT scans came back clean, and he did not suffer any additional injuries.

The statement emphasized that every concussion is different and that the team will proceed with an abundance of caution to ensure the best decisions are made for Moore and his future.

Oregon also expressed deep appreciation for its entire medical staff, as well as the medical staffs at USC and LA General County Hospital, for their quick and thorough action in making sure Moore received the very best care possible.

USC Coach Lincoln Riley Addresses Stephens' Actions

USC coach Lincoln Riley addressed the incident on Sunday, saying that Stephens' actions were inappropriate. Stephens had celebrated his hit while Moore was on the turf and potentially unconscious.

Riley said after the game that he did not see Stephens celebrating in real time, but he made it clear in a statement on Sunday that such behavior would not be tolerated.

In the statement, Riley said that Stephens' actions do not reflect his personal character. He added that Stephens understands his mistake, accepts the consequences of his actions, and will learn from this. The entire Trojan Family wishes Dante a full recovery, and they send their best regards to him and his family.

Stephens also apologized for his actions.

Oregon Moves Forward with Raiola as Starter

Until Moore is ready to return to the field, Raiola will be Oregon's starter. Saturday night's game was his second in an Oregon uniform after he started for two seasons for the Huskers as a five-star recruit.

Oregon is off in Week 5 before playing in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Moore could have been a top-two pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but came back for another run at the national title.

Oregon moved to 3-1 with its win over USC after a Week 2 loss to Oklahoma State. USC, which opened the season in Week Zero, is now 4-1.

Oregon moved up to No. 15 in Sunday's AP Top 25 after the win, while USC fell to No. 18.
