Two people were found slain in Kirkland Lake Tuesday – the second double murder in the northeastern Ontario town in less than two weeks.

“The investigation is in its early stages and no further details can be released at this time,” the OPP said. “Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence.” No causes of death or suspect information has been released in either incident and police did not say if they believe the cases are linked.Ernest Renaud, 47, was fatally shotMathew Leiva-Pineda, 21, of Barrie, is charged with first-degree murder. And Jeffrey Rodrigue, 30, of Dobie, is charged with accessory after the fact in that case.
