Ontario Provincial Police have located the body of a 25-year-old Indianapolis man who went missing after a canoe capsized on Saganagons Lake in Quetico Provincial Park.Posted: Jun 10, 2024 12:36 PM EDT | Last Updated: 3 hours ago
An eastern portion of Saganagons Lake in Quetico Provincial Park was closed on Friday while Ontario Provincial Police searched for a missing canoeist. The body was found Sunday. Ontario Provincial Police have located the body of a 25-year-old from Indianapolis who went missing after a canoe capsized on Saganagons Lake in Quetico Provincial Park.
The OPP's Underwater Search and Recovery Unit found the man's body on Sunday shortly before 4 p.m. The canoeist had been missing since June 5. Police initially reported that a canoe with six people capsized last week, but amended that on Monday to say two canoes had capsized. A number of first responders were involved in the search, including the OPP's underwater unit, its emergency response team and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
