OPP have given out more than 14,000 traffic charges as part of a Canada Day safety campaign.
Between June 25 and July 3, officers laid 14,068 charges to people on roads, waterways and trails across Ontario.They gave out 322 impaired driving charges and 167 distracted driving charges.Police say four people were killed in road collisions over the long weekend. Another person died in an off-road collision.
About 1,000 charges were laid against people over safety measures like helmets, seatbelts and lifejackets. “The OPP is reminding drivers, trail users and boaters that doing their part to keep themselves and their passengers safe is key to significantly reducing the number of fatalities and serious injuries on and off the road,” said officials.Ctrl+Enter
