Opinion: What are you doing to save our planet? Our ability to save earth comes down to the choices each of us makes about what we consume; the house we buy, the food we eat, or the way we travel.
There’s a lot going on in the world these days, but when it comes to the future of life on earth and our very existence, that is being decided right now, down the road in Montreal.
So what are you doing about it? Yes, you. Because while it may be easier to palm this off on government bureaucracies, the UN or environmental activists, this is not someone else’s problem to fix. But we all know that we cannot rely on them to do the right thing. Not because they are intrinsically bad , but because they are wired for short term survival — the next election, the next quarter — and this is a long-term game.
Yet somehow, more tennis courts, parking lots, boat slips and million-dollar condos are thought to be more urgently required.
