Opinion: There's no good reason to slow confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to Supreme Court [Opinion]
Here we go again. The last administration, reeking of incompetence itself, wasted no time doing an end-run around advise and consent. With next-to-zero hesitation, lawmakers then in power hurriedly installed justices on the highest court of the land. A lifetime appointment.
Enormous consequences are already following on the heels of the mindset and frighteningly poor judgment possessed by the majority at the time. Now, after considerable careful thought and consultation, the president, as is his duty, has nominated an extraordinarily qualified justice for a position on the Supreme Court, in the person of Ketanji Brown Jackson. I expect the right-wing leaning members of Congress in their disdain will as always attack with vigor any and all decisions put on the table by a Democrat, regardless of the merit of the issue at hand. My response to this is this isn’t one and done; he should suggest Childs be shortlisted when the next Supreme Court seat is vacated. In the meanwhile, he should stop being a hypocrite and vote for an extraordinary nominee, Ketanji Brown Jackson.
