More to the point, the Oilers are behaving in such a way that they are in danger of throwing away a terrific regular season and a golden opportunity for a long playoff run simply because they can’t maintain any sense of composure.

But why would Draisaitl, of all people, take that chance after the Oilers had just grabbed a 2-1 lead? Just seconds later, Kings winger Adrian Kempe tied the game on a well-executed set play with Draisaitl in the box serving an unsportsmanlike penalty. Shortly thereafter, Kane went to the box for chasing down Doughty, and then carrying on with angry arm gestures and various histrionics to illustrate his belief he’d been unreasonably penalized.
