are down two games to one to the underdog Los Angeles Kings, a team that is clearly driving the high-powered Edmonton squad a little nuts with its unwillingness to be overpowered. More to the point, the Oilers are behaving in such a way that they are in danger of throwing away a terrific regular season and a golden opportunity for a long playoff run simply because they can’t maintain any sense of composure.

Still, McDavid dusted himself off, then scored on a pretty short side shot on Joonas Korpisalo to the top corner. All good, right? Nope. But why would Draisaitl, of all people, take that chance after the Oilers had just grabbed a 2-1 lead? Just seconds later, Kings winger Adrian Kempe tied the game on a well-executed set play with Draisaitl in the box serving an unsportsmanlike penalty. Shortly thereafter, Kane went to the box for chasing down Doughty, and then carrying on with angry arm gestures and various histrionics to illustrate his belief he’d been unreasonably penalized.
