Soon after, the billionaire did just that. When the Canadian broadcaster balked at its new label, Musk amended it to read “69% government funded media.” This tale is too stupid for words so I’ll summarize: what Poilievre did by injecting himself and the CBC into Musk’s media trolling project is egregious because while the CBC does receive substantial public funding, that funding does not compromise its editorial independence — as Musk’s label suggests.
Of course, Poilievre knows this. He’s a smart guy. Yet he’s chosen an unwise path in taking up with Musk. Ironically, in doing so Poilievre has made the same mistake lefty journalists make everyday: he has assumed that Twitter is real life.
