These steps may seem obvious, but state after state has faced the same problems as many try to implement red-flag laws of their own.Such laws vary across states with regard to who is allowed to petition for an order and how long the orders remain in place. It’s too early to know whether these variations impact their effectiveness.
Even with perfect implementation, red-flag laws can’t eradicate firearm violence alone.
