Their fantasy of an election stolen from them in 2020 will have far-reaching effects. The Republicans want to make it difficult to vote so that only their hard-core far-right voting base turns out.
For a party that claims freedom above all else they are willing to take freedoms from those they disagree with and force them to comply with their views through the force of law. They even are a threat to members of their own party who are not in lockstep with the party hierarchy. This started with the Tea Party: they want everything their way, no middle ground, no reaching consensus with people who might disagree with them.
