The premier mused about an election after controversy erupted over changes to LGBT policy in schools

It strikes us as a reasonable approach, and not an effort to indoctrinate anyone on Woke gender ideology. But the premier feels quite strongly that the policy does not account for the rights of parents, whom he says should be consulted before schools agree to use a different name and pronoun for a student.

A favourable early-election result for the premier would not vindicate his government’s poor handling of this issue. And if he loses, the Liberals would likely undo much of his excellent record, including population growth, debt reduction and tax cuts.
