The CFIA says the recall was triggered by an investigation into a food-borne illness outbreak

Nine people in Ontario have become sick with the listeriosis bacterial infection and five have been hospitalized from illnesses believed to be linked to a national recall of plant-based refrigerated beverages, the province’s chief medical officer says.

. Food contaminated with listeria may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, the agency says, and symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. “Right now, preventative measures are a priority,” she said in an interview, adding that the company was quick to hold back the shipment of the beverages that came from the production line at the affected facility.
