BREAKING: Ontario reports 148 new COVID-19 cases, highest number of cases since July 24

“Locally, 27 of Ontario’s 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer cases, with 18 reporting no new cases,” Health Minister Christine Elliott tweeted on Saturday.No new deaths were recorded in the province on Saturday, compared to six deaths recorded yesterday. The province processed more than 32,100 tests in the previous 24-hour period, up from the 31,800 tests recorded on Friday.According to the Ministry of Health’s daily epidemiological summary, 103 people have recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, marking a net increase of 45 in active cases across the province., a 0.4% increase as the province processed more than 32,100 tests.

To date, there are a total of 1,148 active cases of COVID-19 across the province, with 38,126 recoveries and 2,809 deaths.The province recorded a slight drop in the number of hospitalized patients with the virus in the past 24 hours.Of those 51 patients, 17 were in the intensive care unit and five were breathing with the help of a ventilator, down from 12 on Friday.
