A new poll commissioned by CTV News shows the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party with a significant lead over the Liberals.
A Nanos Research survey commissioned by CTV News reveals that the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party holds a significant lead over the Ontario Liberal Party , which remains in second place. The survey, conducted between February 4th and 6th, 2023, polled 900 Ontarians and found that the PCs enjoy 45.9% support among decided voters, compared to 30.1% for the Liberals. The New Democratic Party (NDP) garnered approximately 15.7% support, while the Green Party received around 6.5%.
Nik Nanos, chief data scientist for Nanos Research, noted that PC Leader Doug Ford's strong mandate request to address issues with U.S. President Donald Trump has translated into higher ballot support than his 2022 majority victory. Ford leads in all regions except Toronto, where the race between the PCs and Liberals is close, with each party garnering around 36% support. Across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the PCs hold a more commanding lead at 48.9%, compared to 34.7% for the Liberals. The survey also indicates that Ford is the preferred choice for premier, with 39% of respondents selecting him as their top choice, followed by Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie at 25.5% and NDP Leader Marit Stiles at 16.4%. Ford enjoys a significant advantage among male voters, while the Liberals perform better among women. The survey also highlights that PC support is strongest among those aged 35 to 54, while Liberal support is highest among those aged 55 and older.
