Instead, she spoke about the positive boost that the proposed “tax holiday” would have on consumers and small businesses who are currently struggling with high costs.Should Ottawa include seniors in its $250 rebate plan?The holiday will see the cost of some things like beer or restaurant bills lowered for two months as a result. Basic grocery and food items are already tax-exempt.

That announcement came weeks after Ontario said it would send all residents, regardless of income, a cheque worth $200.
