Ontario 's government has appointed Robert Poirier , a businessman and corporate director, to lead a review of governance at Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System ( OMERS ). Poirier has been given a 10-month mandate to examine the effectiveness of OMERS ' governance model and its engagement with members. Appointed from one of OMERS ’ critics, Poirier is the CEO of NeuState Advisory and a former executive in the pensions division of State Street Corp.
The review's mandate is similar to that of a previous review led by Tony Dean in 2012. Poirier was screened by the Office of the Integrity Commissioner of Ontario before his appointment
