Members of the Ditidaht First Nation were asked to stay indoors and keep their windows closed on Saturday as RCMP officers mobilized to arrest a man

RCMP officers will maintain a presence in Ditidaht First Nation in the coming days following a death and an arrest.

Other units, including the Emergency Response Team, were called to assist “due to the situation at hand,” the statement said. Saunderson initially said on Saturday police were on scene near Lake Cowichan for a “situation allegedly involving a weapon.”The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has been called in to investigate the death.
