ORINDA — On Friday night, a man fell out of an Infinity Sedan and died after being hit by the driver of a separate car on Eastbound State Highway 24 in Orinda, according to California Highway Patrol – Contra Costa.
CHP authorities said they responded to a “vehicle versus pedestrian” collision at 11:07 p.m. on SR-24 eastbound west of the Camino Pablo off-ramp. All eastbound lanes of the highway were temporarily blocked off and reopened again Saturday morning. Authorities said a preliminary investigation revealed the right front passenger in the car partially extended himself outside of the car, fell from the car and landed within the traffic lanes when he was struck by a separate passing vehicle, according to a CHP – Contra Costa Facebook post on Saturday morning.The incident and the identification of the driver who struck the man is under investigation, CHP Officer Adam Lane said.
