One person was killed in a weekend avalanche near Lake Louise Ski Resort, say officials.

“None of the individuals were wearing avalanche safety equipment. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Lake Louise Ski Resort in aRCMP told Postmedia the deceased is a 22-year-old man, though his identity remains unknown. AHS EMS said the man was buried for roughly an hour before being extracted from the slide. He was taken by a rescue helicopter to the resort’s medical hut and pronounced dead after resuscitation attempts there.Parks Canada did not immediately respond to Postmedia’s request for comment on Sunday.
