It's a direct bolt-on operation that can shorten stopping distances by as much as 15 percent. The four-wheel disc brakes also provide better brake pedal "feel," for more predictable and controllable braking. Additionally, the four-wheel discs are more resistant to brake fade.
Included too is a test report of our finished project car by none other than Danny Ongais—the hottest new talent on the USAC Championship Trail. As you will see from his comments, he was highly impressed with the car. Our own before-and-after evaluations, which included a great deal of street driving, plus some spirited charges over the infamous Mulholland Drive, showed the car to be vastly more stable, predictable and forgiving.
We asked Danny Ongais to interrupt his busy racing schedule to give us his impressions of our modified TA in comparison to other street cars and race cars that he has driven. To be certain he could test our project car to its full potential we held our test session at Willow Springs Raceway near Palmdale, California.
