Sony has just revealed details of the 4K Blu-ray release of Quentin Tarantino’s 'Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood'
The Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood 4K Blu-ray limited edition box art.Both 4K Blu-ray editions will feature more than 20 minutes of additional scenes that didn’t make the film’s original 161-minute cut. These will likely include the 10 minutes or so that found its way into the extended cut Sony released theatrically a few days ago.
The non-limited 4K Blu-ray edition releases will also ship with some exclusive packaging and ‘gifts with purchase’, depending on where you buy them from.
Other extras include five behind the scenes featurettes: Quentin Tarantino’s Love Letter to Hollywood;– For the Love of Film; Shop Talk – The Cars of 1969; Restoring Hollywood – The Production Design of The Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood 4K Blu-ray limited edition package looks very cool indeed.The 4K Blu-ray release should give us the best chance to appreciate at home the picture quality associated withbeing shot on film rather than digitally.
There are a couple of potential disappointments for AV fans, though. First, I’ve had it confirmed by Sony that the film is only presented in HDR10; there’s no Dolby Vision version. Even though a Dolby Vision master was made for the film’s theatrical release. Second, the soundtrack on the 4K Blu-ray is ‘only’ a 7.1 DTS-HD MA track, not a DTS:X orone. Even though, again, it appears there was an Atmos track available with the film’s theatrical release.
At least the 4K Blu-ray’s soundtrack is more advanced than the ones you get on the HD Blu-ray and DVD, which are only 5.1 DTS-HD MA and 5.1 Dolby Digital respectively.
