President Donald Trump plans to visit Ford Motor Company's Rawsonville manufacturing plant in Ypsilanti Township on Thursday, which began making ventilators and personal protective equipment in late April to help in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

Gretchen Whitmer on Monday, prohibits all"nonessential" in-person visits to manufacturing facilities in Michigan.for Whitmer confirmed Tuesday that this provision applies to the Ford factory in Ypsilanti, but said that Whitmer will not attempt to prevent Trump, who has frequently been critical of the Democratic governor, from touring the facilities.
A Ford spokeswoman said Tuesday, “Our policy is that everyone wears PPE to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” but that that the White House “has its own safety and testing policies in place and will make its own determination.
