Coming from a family of strong ball players, Eli Brown stands in front of the land waiting to be turned into Truro’s premiere ball diamond which is behind the Belly Up BBQ and Grill on Robie Street. This week, Eli will be in Woodstock, Ontario as a member of Nova Scotia’s U-13 baseball team competing in the nationals – the lone local player on the team. Eli is following older brother Austin as a member of Nova Scotia’s U-13 team which will play in the nationals starting this week in Woodstock, Ontario . While Eli is the only Truro-Colchester player on the U-13 team, Austin is joined by Malky Murphy and Chris Decoste as local representation on the U-15 provincial team which will play their national tournament in Laval, Quebec, also this week .A southpaw, Eli pitches while also playing first base and outfield.
“There was no team here and it was a good spot,” he said as far as how he ended up on a Halifax Regional Municipality area team for the 2023 season. “It will be a great experience,” said the Central Colchester Junior High School student who will be going into Grade 8 next month."Eli is very attentive throughout each and every game and plays with great intensity and focus. His glove provides great defence at first and in centre field while also excelling while on the mound and at the plate."
