A new 10\u002Dstorey midrise showcases the waterfront
Sean Lawrence, partner at Kohn Partnership Architects, says that some of the architectural challenges emerged from the limitations of the geography itself. “It’s a site that is quite constrained,” he says. “We are sitting right on the property line, so there wasn’t a lot of buffer from the street, which is why we decided to transition the building’s scale.
“Twenty years ago, a party space might be something that would be buried in the basement of the condo,” laughs Lawrence. “This development is the exact opposite. It’s taking advantage of those uninterrupted sightlines to the waterfront.” Textured travertine wrapping the walls imitates the golden tones in the surface of the bluffs. “We also brought in wheat grass in various planters to recreate that botanical, natural element,” says Cray.
Townhouse-style units on the ground floor include private garden units, while single-floor penthouse suites have the best views.Second-floor amenities include a gym and fitness area, a yoga area and a dining space surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light.
