In 2016, Donald Trump told LGBTQ voters, "I will fight for you.” Seven years later, “I will fight for you” has gradually turned into “I will fight you.”As Donald Trump moves forward with his latest presidential campaign, the Republican seems to realize that he’ll need more than just lies and conspiracy theories about his 2020 defeat.last week that the former president has used his social media platform to release short videos “about his policy positions.

But the 2024 hopeful keeps releasing them anyway, hoping to prove that there’s more to his vision than the “big lie.” As NBC NewsFormer President Donald Trump vowed in a video released Tuesday that, if he is re-elected, he will punish doctors who provide gender-affirming care to minors and push schools to “promote positive education about the nuclear family” and “the roles of mothers and fathers” as part of a wide-ranging set of policies to use federal power to target transgender people.

After threatening to defund public schools if a teacher says something about gender identity that he disagrees with, the Republican added, “I will declare that any hospital or health care provider that participates in the chemical or physical mutilation of minor youth will no longer meet federal health and safety standards for Medicaid and Medicare and will be terminated from the program immediately.

But watching his harangue yesterday, I couldn’t help but think about just how much worse the Republican has become on the issue.
