From sportsdanbarnes: Olympic gold medallist Glenroy Gilbert passes the baton to the current men's 4x100 relay squad.

The current squad also won world championship gold last year in Eugene, Ore., in 37.48 — the fastest time run by a Canadian team and the fifth-fastest ever in the world.

“The other guys are going to get mad at me, but that’s OK. You’ve got to remember, they’re all around 10-flat in the 100 and they’re all right around 20-flat in the 200. So they have the depth, they have the speed and since I’ve been working with them, they’ve got two Olympic medals and three world championship medals. So they’re able to get it done when it counts. They’ve just got to keep it going.

With less than three weeks to go before the world championships in Budapest, the current Canadian team looks to be in good form individually and as a team. Rodney leads the way in the individual 100 metres with a clocking of 10.0 this season, while Blake checks in at 10.06, Brown at 10.08 and de Grasse at 10.21. In the 200 metres, Brown leads the way at 20.0, De Grasse is next at 20.01, Rodney has run 20.15 and Blake 20.39.

“I think so. Intuitively, within themselves, I think that’s how they feel but they will never say it. That’s not their M.O. But I can remember being on teams that won world championships and our plan is always to defend our title.Canadian men’s relay team to receive Olympic silver medals at reallocation ceremony
