Organizers in Yorkville are getting ready to throw an end-of-the-month party that is entirely aimed at helping youth and families in the community.

On Friday and Saturday, the sixth annual Yorktoberfest will be held at Riverfront Park East in Yorkville, presented by the Kiwanis Club of Yorkville in partnership with the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department. The event will run from 4 to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Local resident Jason Persola, who is helping organize the event, said it offers a German Oktoberfest experience with a Yorkville twist. Because of its goal of raising money, Persola said organizers “are hoping to get Yorktoberfest in front of as many people as possible.” Regarding changes this year, Pesola said there has been a craft fair every year but this year it will be much bigger.
