Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets and will miss 1–2 weeks, the club announced Sunday.
In all, McDavid logged 20:48 of ice time and took one shot on goal in the loss to the Jets. The Oilers have now lost back-to-back games and currently occupy the fifth position in the Pacific Division with a 1–3–1 record to start the 2023–24 season. McDavid has remained relatively healthy since his rookie year, in which he appeared in just 45 games before suffering a season-ending collarbone injury. He also suffered a serious knee injury in the final game of the 2018–19 season but returned to full health for the start of the 2019–20 campaign.
