Ohio trends lower for student homelessness than the United States as a whole, where nearly 1.1 million public school students experienced homelessness, representing 2.2% of all students nationwide.

Overall, graduation rates for those reporting homelessness in the state were extremely low, at just above 50% in Ohio in the most recent data. Meanwhile, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nebraska, New Jersey and Puerto Rico had the lowest rates, all below 1% of students. Hispanic or Latinx students make up the largest share of students experiencing homelessness in the country, at 39.4%, followed by white students and Black students .
