Defensive back Ryan Watts has big impact at Texas after transfer from Ohio State
Ryan Watts, breaking up a pass against West Virginia, has fit in with the Texas secondary after transferring from Ohio State.AUSTIN — Teammates talk about Texas junior Ryan Watts like he’s a giant. He’s not really. But for a cornerback, the Ohio State transfer cuts a striking figure.
And fifth-year defensive end Ovie Oghoufo, another Big Ten expat from Notre Dame, said he “loves” Watts because he’s such a “ball player. “He’s a mismatch, you know, a 6-3 corner,” Oghoufo added. “You just don’t really see that much. And I’m so happy that we have him because he’s a big piece of our team.”
Watts suffered a stinger injury against Iowa State while making a tackle in the second quarter, knocking him from the game and forcing coach Steve Sarkisian to replace him by alternating between true freshmen Austin Jordan and Terrance Brooks.
