The highway patrol and turnpike commission are partnering to improve roadway safety along the 241-Ohio turnpike, officials say.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission announced safety initiatives for 2023 at the Cleveland Auto Show Friday, according to a press release.
Officials say the safety initiatives are meant to educate drivers on the importance of following traffic laws and eliminating dangerous driving behaviors. Of the 11,038 crashes that happened on the Ohio Turnpike between 2018 to 2022, 48 were fatal, police say. “Dangerous driving behaviors alone cause about 94% of fatal crashes each year nationwide,” said Chris Matta, OTIC chief engineer, in remarks today at the Cleveland Auto Show.
