It is the fourth time in the past 25 years that the Buckeyes will have faced an FCS school. They hold a 3-0 record by a combined score of 157-6 in two wins over the Penguins and Florida A&M.
This is not a matchup that OSU is in danger of losing. It is not even expected to be competitive, as it serves more as a preseason game than a way we can learn anything about the roster. Even with that being the case a 23-3 win over Indiana to open the season showed that while this roster is talented, it still has its flaws.
The home opener won’t be about whether Ohio State can walk away with a win, but if it can build on a quality Week 1 while showing some level of proof that its weaknesses are gradually improving. The bulk of that conversation is about the offensive line. But it is just as much about the ongoing quarterback battle between Kyle McCord and Devin Brown, where the latter didn’t play nearly as much as even the coaching staff would have liked.
