Lake effect flurries are expected to strengthen again Thursday morning and continue into Friday

Environment Canada has issued a snow squall watch for the Sault Ste. Marie area.

“Lake effect flurries have eased over the area and are expected to strengthen again Thursday morning and continue into Friday as northwesterly to westerly winds persist,” the weather advisory said.“Road closures are possible, especially over areas that receive multiple snow squall bands,” Environment Canada added.Find Environment Canada's full snow squall watch below:Snow squalls are expected to develop.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
