A crowd of about 200 people gathered outside the Deptford Township Police Dept. to honor Officer Robert “Bobby” Shisler, who died Sunday. Shisler suffered a gunshot wound in the line of duty during a March 10 incident and was hospitalized until his death.
A Deptford police officer who was wounded in a shootout nearly 2 months ago died in the hospital Sunday morning, officials said.
He remained in the hospital until his death on Sunday, according to Deptford Police Chief Joseph Smith. “Our deepest sympathies are with the Shisler family during this difficult time of bereavement,” Smith continued.Shisler stopped pedestrian Mitchell Negron Jr., 24, of Deptford, shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Delsea Drive, investigators said, and when Negron took off running, Shisler chased after him.
