THUNDER BAY — A city police officer has been arrested on impaired driving charges and placed on administrative duties.

Thunder Bay police said officers were sent to the area of Balmoral Street and the Harbour Expressway on Friday morning after receiving reports of an impaired driver. The responding officers found the driver and observed signs of impairment, police said in an afternoon news release.Police did not publicly release the name of the officer, saying it is being withheld because the charges have not been formally sworn before the courts.
