Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody on Sunday accused Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of inciting violence against Elon Musk after Ocasio-Cortez publicly called for Tesla owners to boycott the company's vehicles and for shareholders to sell their stock. According to Moody, Ocasio-Cortez 's comments likened the escalating tensions surrounding the Tesla CEO to events that transpired on January 6th at the US Capitol, implying a potential for a hostile takeover of Tesla by her supporters.
Moody, a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, criticized Ocasio-Cortez for her language during a Twitter Space discussion. She stated that as an elected official, Ocasio-Cortez should exercise caution in her words and actions as nothing would happen to Musk, despite the seemingly provocative statements directed at him.In response to the accusations, Ocasio-Cortez defended her position, clarifying that the “Tesla Takedown” movement is a nonviolent protest against Musk’s recent job cuts. She stressed the peaceful nature of the initiative during a public meeting, emphasizing that she had never advocated for or condoned violence. Ocasio-Cortez also targeted Moody, suggesting that the Attorney General should address the issue of terrorism by urging Trump to detain individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol insurrection, some of whom were pardoned by Trump upon his return to office.The “Tesla Takedown” campaign primarily aims to pressure Tesla owners into selling their vehicles and encouraging shareholders to divest from Tesla stock.
