A woman was shot while driving Tuesday in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.
Shortly after 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of ShotSpotter activity in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue in the city’s San Antonio neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found a woman at 17th Avenue and Marin Way in her vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and provided treatment until paramedics and Oakland Fire Department firefighters arrived.According to preliminary information, the woman was driving a white Buick Century sedan southbound along 17th Avenue when someone shot at her from the street or inside another vehicle.
She managed to drive another 50 feet until her Buick struck a parked red Honda Civic at the intersection of Marin Way. There were no other reported injuries. Police closed off a scene north of International Boulevard while working to recover evidence, including multiple casings on the street, and did not initially share any associated suspect or vehicle description or motive.
