The California Highway Patrol closed all lanes of Interstate 580 west of High Street after a police response to an unspecified incident Sunday, authorities said.
At 3:49 p.m., CHP officers responded to reports of a possible shooting near I-580 and Highway 13, CHP Officer David Arias said. No confirmation on any shooting incident was immediately available Sunday afternoon.
One driver passing by the scene saw at least three vehicles in westbound I-580 lanes at High, with traffic stopped behind them. The CHP issued a Sig-alert at 4:10 p.m., saying that all westbound lanes were blocked and diverting traffic off the freeway onto MacArthur Boulevard and High Street, and toward Highway 13.Check back for updates.
