From jonmccarthySUN: Nick Taylor has Canadian players pumped at U.S. Open
Taylor Pendrith and Adam Svensson were still talking about their friend’s win when they came off the 18th green together minutes after the all-Canadian foursome had teed off.
Svensson, who won for the first time on the PGA Tour last fall, sees more big things for Canadian golfers, including at major championships.“It could be this one,” Svensson said. “But I think within the next five or ten years there’s going to be a Canadian major winner for sure. These Canadian guys are good, really good. It’s just a matter of time.”Article content
“I feel like every week this year there has been one of us playing really well and in contention, which is awesome to see,” Pendrith said. “There are so many of us out here now which is great. Nick last week was just insane obviously, and four winners this season is awesome. Everybody has been playing great for a while and we are starting to see the results. I’m just going to keep pecking away and hopefully join them.
“I feel good about my game,” he told Postmedia. “I was disappointed last Sunday not to give it a better run but thrilled for Nick. Everything feels great and I’m excited to keep it going this week.”There are rightfully high hopes among Canadian golfers here after Taylor lifted the spirits of an entire country. If the buzz at Los Angeles Country Club is a sign, Taylor’s memorable win at Oakdale has pushed Canadian golfers into many major championship conversations.
