The NYPD is taking no chances as they prepare for rumored neo-Nazi, anti-Semitic demonstrations that may take place this weekend in New York.
Online chatter indicates that hate groups are set to spread their filth in the Big Apple and other parts of the U.S. on Feb. 25 as part of a “day of hate” more than eight decades after Nazi forces were defeated by the free world during World War II.
“Members of the service are advised to maintain elevated situational awareness and vigilance on Feb. 25 for activism in the form of biased, in-person acts around the city and at potential key locations that might garner attention from these type of actors,” part of an internal NYPD alert read.NYPD sources say they are aware of the threatening acts and are taking appropriate precautions, despite law enforcement also underscoring that there are no credible threats at this time.
“While there are no identified threats to New York City, out of an abundance of caution, the Department will deploy additional resources to sensitive locations, including houses of worship, throughout the weekend,” an NYPD DCPI spokesperson said. The NYPD Intelligence and Counterterrorism bureau also issued a “situational awareness alert” in which they advised cops to be on the lookout for potential attacks, threats, and other acts of hate against the community.
Even with the increased police presence, the NYPD urged residents to remain vigilant and, if they “see something” suspicious, they should “say something” by calling the NYPD’s anti-terror hotline at 888-NYC-SAFE.
