The Breen foursome that includes third Mary Sue Radford, second Julie McMullin and lead Helen Radford out of the Halifax Curling Club defeated Newfoundland and Labrador's Laura Phillips 6-1 to move into top spot in the women's standings at 8-1 with Quebec's Chantal Osborne.The Halifax Curling team plays four-time defending champion Sherry Anderson of Saskatchewan in the night draw to conclude Championship Pool play.
On Thursday night, MacLeod stole four points over the final to ends to knock off Saskatchewan’s Randy Brayden 8-6.The top four teams in the men's and women's competition advance to Saturday's semifinals at 8:30 a.m. at the Mariners Centre. The men's and gold and bronze medal games follow at 12:30 p.m. with the women's championship match and third-place game at 3:30 p.m.
