NS child killer Penny Boudreau and the path to eventual release | SaltWireNova Scotia's Nate Darling is circling back to Los Angeles for another tour in the Clippers organization.
The 25-year-old shooting guard signed an exhibit 10 deal with the Clippers on Monday, which affords him an opportunity to make the NBA roster during the pre-season. The Bedford native will be eligible to play in L.A.'s three remaining exhibition games before they open the regular season on Oct. 25 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
If Darling impresses management during that period, he may wind up signing a two-way deal or even a full NBA contract. A two-way contract allows Darling to split his season between the Clippers' G League affiliate and the NBA, but he cannot play in more than 10 games with L.A. Under the terms of an exhibit 10 arrangement, the Clippers can waive and assign him to their G League team without any salary cap implications. Darling played for L.A.'s G League team the past two seasons, averaging 20.7 points and four rebounds per game in 2022-23. He finished last season on a two-way deal before joining the Chicago Bulls Summer League team. The Clippers are obligated to make a determination on his status by the time the regular season starts.
Darling became the first-ever Nova Scotian to play in the NBA when he appeared in a March 3, 2021 game for the Charlotte Hornets against the Toronto Raptors. He was on a two-way contract at the time and spent the first portion of the season with the Greensboro Swarm of the G League.
