Musician Ozzy Osbourne and his TV personality wife, Sharon Osbourne, are moving back to England, citing social and political reasons motivating their decision.
“I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert. … It’s f***ing crazy,” Ozzy Osbourne told the Guardian. “I don’t want to die in America.“The rock legend has had a series of health scares in recent years, but the Osbournes insisted their move is not related to his health but rather because “everything’s ridiculous” in the United States.
“I knew people would think that. It’s not,” Sharon Osbourne explained. “It’s just time. America has changed so drastically. It isn’t the United States of America at all. Nothing’s united about it. It’s a very weird place to live right now.” Ozzy Osbourne found his way back to the stage in England earlier this month performing with Black Sabbath co-founder Tony Iommi at the closing ceremonies of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.“I said to Sharon, ‘I can’t f***ing perform,’” Ozzy Osbourne explained. “She said, ‘Are you sure?’ And I thought about it, and I thought: ‘F*** it, I’m gonna go for it.’ It’s one song, and I’ve sung it every f***ing night for the last 55 years.
The Birmingham performance is the singer's first since a short appearance at the 2019 American Music Awards. He had “major” surgery in June, and while details of the surgery were not revealed, the former Black Sabbath vocalist had complained of neck problems as a result of a 2003 bike accident.
