The ferocity of the fires that forced the evacuation of northwest Manitoba communities has not been seen so early in the year before, says the area's NDP MP Niki Ashton as she called for solidarity and support for her constituents in the face of another challenging wildfire season. “We're used to forest fires in the summer, but we're not used to them this early and this aggressive,” Ashton told in a phone interview.
