Ski and snowboard enthusiasts of all ages can compete at Shames Mountain on February 15 and 16 for an unforgettable winter showdown. The 'Not So Mini Races,' now a staple at the Shames Mountain events calendar, will feature 10 categories for racers to face off in thrilling competition. The brackets will include ages six and under, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, and 16+. There are also separate divisions for males and females, and they can choose between skiing or snowboarding.
The event is sponsored by the Prince Rupert Port Authority and hosted by the Shames Mountain Ski and Snowboard Club. 'Our team will be serving hot cocoa and taking in the competition at the bottom of the hill. Please stop by and say hi,' said the port on Facebook. The competition will be held at the Pot Line, with races starting at 12 p.m. and concluding at 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to all first-place athletes, and medals will be given for podium placements. Anyone can take part by either paying $5 or making a food donation.
